2021 Grazia

A$34.00

A distinctive & complex blend of Friulano, Malvasia d’Istria, Picolit & Pinot Bianco from the alluvial soils of the Alpine Valleys, north-east Victoria.

With a bright golden hue, one is struck by the unctuousness of the wine on first appearance. The Grazia’s nose has an attractive struck match reductivity, with toasted almonds, fresh green pea and straw leading to a toasty oak finish. With a bit of time in the glass, fragrant field blossoms reveal themselves, the influence of Malvasia d’Istria. The palate offers an attractive tartness with lemon and pith leading to well-integrated phenolics. It is a complex and layered wine, with a degree of subtlety as it reveals itself, rich and refined as notes of grapefruit and orange peel lead to amaro-bitter tannins of medium weight and a creamy vanilla finish. A vintage of the Grazia of which Mario and Madeleine are most proud.

‘43/27/24/6% pinot bianco/malvasia d'Istria/friulano/picolit. Fermented with both wild and inoculated yeasts, 8 months on lees, then the varieties were blended, fined, filtered and bottled before 2+ years of bottle ageing. Named in honour of the winemaker's mother, Grazia, this white blend works well in the glass, presenting a savoury Italian-esque profile and feel. Intriguing ginger nut, honeysuckle, quince, saffron, citrus fragrance. Comes to life on the palate, hand in hand with warm texture and rolling acidity.’
